Official CTP Curriculum

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) partnered with Certification Partners to develop the Official CTP Curriculum. The CTP courseware is developed by leading professionals in convergence technologies along with the exam objectives that are endorsed by top industry companies.

Classroom Courseware

The Official CTP courseware provides skills training and assessment for the objectives covered in the CTP exam. Students set up, maintain and troubleshoot a data network, a telephony network and a Voice over IP (VoIP) network during the course. The courseware contains 30+ hours of instructor-led training (ILT): one week in a learning center/corporate environment or one quarter/semester in an academic environment. It includes both an Instructor and Student Guide.

Effective August 11, 2009, BICSI recognizes Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) training for up to 30 BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CECs). Course trainers must issue a certificate of course completion at the conclusion of the class. The certificate must include the completion date, the course title and the number of CECs approved. It should be made clear to your course attendees that BICSI CECs are issued ONLY to BICSI credential holders.

The Official CTP Classroom Courseware is divided into three knowledge domains:

• Data Networking (12 hours)
• Telephony Networking (6 hours)
• Convergence Technologies (12 hours)

e-Learning

The Official CTP E-Learning series is designed for CTP candidates and training centers looking for a self-paced training solution. The series consists of five courses: Data Networking (two courses), Telephony Networking (one course), and Convergence Technologies (two courses). For more personalized instruction, each course contains pre-course and post-course assessments. The pre-assessment option can be used to generate a personalized learning plan for self-paced study, which may reduce the total learning time.

Practice Exams

CTP Practice Exams serve as an online assessment tool to measure a learner's proficiency on a given topic or application. CTP Practice Exams contains more than 400 questions and can be used to:

• Pre-assess aptitudes, then tailor courses accordingly.
• Prepare for certification exams.
• Instantly evaluate course knowledge.
• Review materials in testing or study environments.

Whether a student is using instructor-led training materials or e-learning, CTP Practice Exams provides an additional method of review and assessment to enhance the learning experience. It can also be used as a pre-assessment tool to help instructors evaluate their students' aptitudes and tailor courses to their needs.
